Our History...
In 1922, Arthur Randolph Gesserd, a baker from Germany arrived in America. Settling into an apartment in Baltimore, MD, Gesserd supported his family by working daily at a local bakery, despite his ironic allergy to flour. Meanwhile, Gesserd's neighbor, who lived in the apartment below, worked for a small auction house. On nights when Gesserd was off from work at the bakery, he would go and work for his neighbor by helping him at the auction house.
After continuing both jobs for a year or so, Gesserd was receiving a large number of demands to deliver furniture.
So, in 1928, Gesserd bought his first moving truck and decided to make the plunge into the moving business full-time. Named for its location in West Baltimore, he started WESTERN EXPRESS.
That was over 80 years ago and WESTERN EXPRESS is pleased to still be servicing the Mid-Atlantic area.
We look forward to helping you with all your transportation needs!
